470 European Championship - NZL Team - Sailors wait for breeze |
BREST, FRANCE-(11-7-2003) Two days have now passed in the 470 European Championships in Brest, France and things are starting to look bleak with the first race yet to be completed. Five New Zealand teams are amongst the 156 at the Championship including current World Champions, Simon Cooke and Peter Nicholas; Andrew Brown/Jamie Hunt; Jamie Thompson/Scott Wilkinson; Geoff Wooley/Mark Overington and Shelley Hesson/Linda Dickson who will be racing against the 43 other women's crews. Yachting New Zealand double-handed Coach John Clinton reported back from the regatta earlier this morning NZ time, `there has been no wind for the first 2 days of the regatta and the forecast is not so good for the next few, everyone is afraid that they will try and push the regatta through in bad conditions if they panic when the days start running out`. The regatta is due to finish on Tuesday (15th July).
